Pronoti Datta

Pronoti Datta is a writer and journalist. She lives in Bombay (minus cats or children).

​

Her first novel, 'Half-Blood', was published by Speaking Tiger in March 2022. In the novel, a thirty-something newspaper editor searches for meaning by investigating the life of her late father. Half Parsi, half tribal, Burjor lived a roguish life in Bombay. He sold hooch during Prohibition, smuggled goods and seduced many, many women.

She co-founded The Daily Pao, an erstwhile online zine on Bombay's culture and food scenes. She has worked at The Times of India and Time Out Mumbai. And her writing has appeared in publications such as The New Statesman, Roads & Kingdoms, Mint Lounge, The Hindu and Vogue.
